with C.J. Hayden

c.j. hayden Do you want to make a difference in the world with your business or nonprofit? Is your enterprise built around a global mission or social agenda? Working with a business coach can help your passionate ideas make a bigger impact on the world.

I help my clients make a living by making a difference. I believe that everyone has a path of right livelihood — a way of earning a living that makes the best use of your talents, honors your values, and allows you to be of service to others. My personal mission is to assist you in succeeding at your right livelihood by building an enterprise that makes a positive difference in the world. If you own or lead a business or nonprofit with a social agenda at its core, or you have a business idea grounded in the principles of social entrepreneurship, I may be the right coach for you.

What is a social entrepreneur?

Here's what I help my clients do:

  • Get clear about what you want to accomplish
  • Evaluate your concept and develop a sustainable business model
  • Build an effective business plan, marketing plan, or action plan
  • Locate resources, make connections, and build alliances
  • Own your leadership qualities and claim your potential
  • Solve problems and eliminate obstacles
  • Gain perspective, get feedback, and discover new ideas
  • Stay true to your vision, focused on your goals, and on track with your plans
I have the skills and experience to help you and your business with:
  • Business visioning, strategy and planning
  • Marketing tactics, tools and skills
  • Financial modeling and analysis
  • Product design and development
  • Managing projects and people
  • Developing yourself as a leader, visionary and entrepreneur
Since 1992, I have been helping clients like these:
  • A successful author wanted to use her experience in the publishing industry to found an entrepreneurial nonprofit teaching business skills to at-risk girls. I coached her to clarify her vision, define the mission of her enterprise, form her first management team, and build alliances in the community, and make it all fit into her already busy life.
  • An MD who founded a medical research facility to discover new treatments for AIDS/HIV hired me to consult with his management team to define appropriate marketing strategies, develop a marketing action plan, and assist the doctor/CEO personally in learning entrepreneurial thinking, better delegation skills, and project management techniques.
  • A training school owner worked with me to begin sharing her innovative ideas about leadership and personal development on a worldwide basis. I advised her on public relations and writing techniques, and helped her balance her heavy workload with managing her health, nurturing a new relationship, and writing a book, while growing her nonprofit school from a local success into a global enterprise.
  • A husband-wife team of psychotherapists contacted me about their mission to make psychological services available to areas in crisis in the developing world. I mentored them in reorganizing their private practices and finances to make a life of travel and volunteering possible.
My clients are founders and leaders of businesses and nonprofits, and individuals with a global mission or social agenda. They include social entrepreneurs, social business owners, community and nonprofit leaders, activists, and educators. I work with clients in any phase of developing an enterprise or project, from the beginning stages of exploring an idea or vision through later periods of expansion and growth.

* What is a social entrepreneur? If your enterprise has a global mission or social agenda that holds a higher priority for you than maximizing profits, you may be a social entrepreneur. Social entrepreneurs build mission-driven businesses aimed at solving social problems, direct their professional skills and training toward social benefit projects, or use their entrepreneurial skills to direct innovative nonprofits.

Social entrepreneurship may take many forms: starting a business, implementing a corporate or community initiative, offering professional services on a pro bono basis, directing a nonprofit, serving as an activist, working to educate others through writing, teaching, speaking or artistic works — or even launching a movement.
